The Petoskey Church of Christ endeavors to serve Christ to the best of our individual abilities.  We are a fellowship that cares about each other and the communities in which we live.  It has been said that a truly functioning church is one that acknowledges the pains, hurts, and struggles of its members; openly willing to help each other as we work out our faith in service to the Lord.  We believe this statement would characterize our fellowship.  We are supporting each other in a life filled with circumstances that at times are difficult.  Through the love of Christ and the grace of our Father we’ve seen the miracle of change in the lives of people in our midst. We believe in the power of God to change lives.

The basis of our belief is the Bible; the holy inspired Word of God.  We believe the Bible teaches that:

ò God gives all the guidance necessary to please and serve Him faithfully. II Tim. 3:16; I Peter 1:20-21

ò Every person has worth as a creation of God, but is separated from Him because of sin. Rom. 3:23

ò Forgiveness is available to all that believe in Jesus and who are willing to change, confess their faith and be baptized. John 3:16; Rom. 10:9; Acts 2:38

ò Salvation comes only through Jesus Christ. Acts 4:12; I Cor. 15:1-8

ò God gives the Holy Spirit to his children to guide them in their changed lives. Acts 2:38; I Cor. 12:11; Rom. 8; Eph. 5:18

ò The church is the body of Christ and should reflect the love and unity for which he prayed. John 17:20-23; Eph. 4:1-16

ò Jesus Christ will one day return to take His believers home with Him, and reign forever as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. I Thess. 4:13-18

Though some would think of us as small, we remind ourselves of the following:  Small doesn’t mean weak; it just means small.  We actively participate in community efforts with other local churches in joint projects that faithfully serve Christ. We desire to be “Christian only, but not the only Christians.”
